Samdech Hun Sen presides over the weekly cabinet session on May 29, 2009




Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presides over the weekly cabinet session here on Friday morning.

During the session, two documents including the draft document on the investment program for 2010-2012 and the draft of sub-decree on the complementary and revise some departments of the Ministry of Planning’s National Institute of Statistics were raised for debate.

Cambodian Red Cross President Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen together with Red Cross senior officials distribute relief to 504 HIV/AIDS victims, 45 orphans and 1,414 disabled and aged people in Kampot province on May 28.

On the occasion, each people received 25 kg of rice, one box of domestic instant noodle, 10 canned fish, 50,000 Riel (Cambodian Currency) roughly US$ 12.5 and other basic necessities

The bilateral ASEAN-EU ministerial meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia










Heads of delegations of the EU- and ASEAN-member states continues holding their first session at Inter-Continental hotel in Phnom Penh following the official opening ceremony held at Chaktomuk Conference Hall today morning.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong and Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout are co-chairs of the session.

The bilateral ASEAN-EU ministerial meeting was attended by representatives from all the 10 ASEAN-member countries and the 27 EU-member states, as well as the delegations from ASEAN Secretariat and EU Commission.

H.E Keat Chhun meets with vice Minister of Czech Republic




Visiting vice Minister of Czech Republic Viri Kubinek, together with Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Cambodia Ivan Hotek meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Economy and Finance Minister Keat Chhun here on May 27. The Czech vice minister presented a letter of finance minister of Czech Republic to the Cambodian minister of Economy and Finance, in which the Czech’s debt that Cambodia owed in the past was settled. Over 800,000 US dollars in debt was turned to the financing provided by Czech Republic to two health care development projects in Cambodia

A red-cutting ceremony for an official use of Preah Monivong new bridge






Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Lok Chum Teav Bunrany Hun Sen, preside over a red-cutting ceremony for an official use of Preah Monivong new bridge over Bassac River in Phnom Penh on May 27 with government officials in attendance.

Speaking at the function, the Cambodian premier said that the new bridge was a testimony to all people, including mindless criticizers, who do not acknowledge or recognize a process of constructing the bridge.

The bridge with a length of 269 meters and a width of 14 meters was constructed with a fund provided by the royal government.

In the meantime, the Cambodian premier inaugurated a photo exhibition of the construction project of the air bridge in Phnom Penh.

The seminar on maritime security





Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen delivers a speech to the seminar on maritime security held here on May 26, saying that “it is time for us to create the national committee to strengthen maritime security, and adding that “we need to provide the safety security for oil and gas exploration ships and containers cargo ships.”

“We have been heavily cracking down the crimes regularly on land, we also have to consider criminals matters at sea. The criminals will be able to enter into Cambodia as fishmen and tourists,” the premier said.

The seminar was attended by government officials and foreign diplomats to Cambodia

Cambodian Red Cross President Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen (4th Right) receives 100 million Riel (Cambodian Currency) roughly USD 25,000 together with 50 tons of rice, 200 boxes of local instant noodle, 200 kg of soup powder and 300 kg of sugar as a donation from Cambodian Royal Navy Commander General Tea Vinh at CRC Phnom Penh’s Head Office on May 23.

Newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia Mr. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya pays a courtesy visit to Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhear Chakrei Heng Samrin in Phnom Penh on May 22.

H.E Khieu Kanharith meets with newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia and vice president of NEC Company





Newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia Mr. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya pays a courtesy visit to Cambodian Information Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith in Phnom Penh on May 21.

In the meeting, the ambassador told Cambodian minister of his purpose to establish the relations and information exchange between Cambodia and Indonesia aimed to promote more mutual understanding from each other, especially to promote the tourism field.

In reply, H.E Khieu Kanharith welcomed the ambassador’s purpose and told him that he used to send TVK officials to train in Indonesia. He added that Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has ordered cable TVs here to broadcast TV programs of all ASEAN member countries and the state-run TVK has its own 30 minute-weekly program broadcasting on ASEAN member countries. He also asked the Indonesian diplomat to provide the documentary such as video and music to TVK and National Radio of Kampuchea for the broadcasting on the occasion of the Indonesian National Day.

Cambodia Information Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith meets here on Thursday with Mr. Tan Boon Chin, vice president of NEC Company.

In the meeting, Cambodian minister said the ministry of information needs to install the state-run TVK’s relay-stations in Svay Rieng and Kampong Thom provinces and NEC company cans provide its initial assistance by sending its specialists to inspect and fix TVK’s broadcasting machine at Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork station as the capacity of its broadcasting currently can be operated 3/5 only. H.E. Khieu Kanharith also asked NEC Company to conduct a study on the cost of the new construction building before the Ministry of Information submits to the royal government.

In reply, Mr. Tan Boon Chin said he will try his best to re-arrange a good relations’ network with TVK as it uses NEC’s broadcasting materials
